The van der Waals differential equation
General form of the van der Waals differential equation for binary systems:
The van der Waals differential equation can be used to calculate the slope of a phase boundary when the enthalpy of trantition H1→2 is known, or to calculate the enthalpy from the slope of the phase boundary:
